I saw Swansea Love Story this week. Brilliant film, really touching. Divine Horsemen is now duly added to my DVD rental list!

Is that Rev Robert Taylor book worth searching out? The review on amazon makes it sound extremely interesting.

I recently finished The Monster Of Florence, which was recommended in the comments section of this blog. It was an incredible read.

It seems astonishing that such events took place in a modern European country. And just as shocking is how the Amanda Knox trial was reported in this country. Apparently absolutely no actual journalism took place, and our news outlets were happy to simply reprint the nonsense passed on from the Italian justice system.

I should pass my gratitude on to the fellow who recommended that book. It was a real eye opener.

Rev. Taylor's books are extremely interesting: before Syntagma... probably better to start with The Diegesis or The Devil's Pulpit, and maybe something contemporary to contextualise it all

Here is a viewing recommendation that you might be interested in if you haven't already seen it, it is well worth watching while it's still on the iplayer for free.

I would skip the synopsis, as it lessens the effectiveness of the film.

watch divine horsmen with slight blur filter over it, very hypnotic.

Did you like The Secret of Scent? I read The Emperor of Scent on the recommendation of my taxidermy boss. Such a great story about science, an unfortunately rare occurrence. Last time I checked the literature, the debate between the shape and vibration theories had not been resolved.

I've only skimmed it so far, Abby, tracing the efforts to understand scent is fascinating - and Turin, a perfume obsessive, claims to have cracked the code of smell
